Scholar Athlete &
College Scholarship Programs

DACO annually awards one or more full-tuition college scholarships to local high school seniors and honors the top 10 males and 10 female high school Scholar Athletes in Central Florida at an Awards Banquet each May.

The scholarship winners receive four-year full-tuition scholarships to a state university. The candidates submit applications to DACO-Foundation in the spring of their senior year in high school. Each must meet certain eligibility requirements and enters a written essay as to why they should be chosen for the scholarship award. A committee screens all applications, and finalists are interviewed individually before the winners are selected. We have awarded over 26 scholarships over the past 20 years to worthy high school scholar athletes in the Central Florida area. Click Here for Application Information and Application Form. The scholar athletes, on the other hand, are nominated by their schools and submit information about their scholastic records and sports participation. All high schools in the six-county Central Florida area are invited to nominate their most outstanding scholar athletes. Each candidate must be a senior, have at least a 3.0 cumulative non-weighted grade point average and must have lettered in at least two varsity sports during their high school careers. The top ten male and top ten female scholar athlete finalists are chosen by a committee, and are invited to the annual awards banquet, along with their families and coaches. There, they are individually introduced and are awarded a commemorative plaque. The evening concludes with the announcement of the Male and Female Scholar Athletes of the Year.
